Community Development Society (CDS) was established on 24 September 2001 (8th of Ashwin 2058) by a group of committed, dynamic and energetic youth working in a sector of community development and empowerment. The organization envisions developing a self-reliant, healthy and equitable society with a strong conviction of promoting social justice and equality by abolishing existing socio-economic inequality.
Initially CDS served the needs of its target community on a voluntary basis. Over the period, the organization has worked with dozens of partner organizations. In the two occasions (BS 2061 and BS 2066), then-District Council/District Development Committee rewarded CDS as the best organization for its contribution to the development of Ramechhap district.
Basically, CDS has been working in different thematic areas such as livelihood improvement, health, sanitation, environment conservation, education, disaster risk reduction, social security and inclusion, strengthening of community organization and sustainable organizational development.
